The Giants placed 1B Brandon Belt on the DL with a broken thumb. RHP George Kontos was also optioned to Fresno.
The team activated RHP Matt Cain from the DL and purchased the contract of OF Tyler Colvin.
To clear room for Colvin, 2B Marco Suctaro has been transferred to the 60-day DL.
Colvin has one minor league option remaining. Prior option years: 2011 (Cubs), 2013 (Colorado).
