Peavy official, Kickham gone; more minor league free agents

RHP Jake Peavy's re-signing is offiical. The Giants wavied LHP Mike Kichham off the 40-man roster. The Cubs then claimed him.

Giants moves: McGehee trade; Romo, Peavy re-signed

The Giants acquired 3B Casey McGehee from Miami for minor-league pitcher Kendry Flores and luis Castillo. Since Flores was already on the 40-man, no further move was needed.

The Giants re-signed RHP Sergio Romo to a two-year contract. The team also re-signed RHP Jake Peavy.

When Romo's announcement became official, the Giants outrighted INF Angel Villalona off the 40-man to clear room. Another move will need to be made when Peavy's signing becomes official.

Giants post-Winter meetings update

No deals or roster changes coming out of the winter meetings. The only free-agent loss thus far is 3B Pablo Sandoval (signed with Boston).

On the minor league front, the team re-signed OF Darren Ford, signed LHP Braulio Lara, RHP Cory Gearrin (released by the Braves), LHP Nik Turley and OF Justin Maxwell.

In the Rule 5 draft, the Giants selected RHP Ramon del Orbe from Miami in the first round, The selected OF Brett Jackson in the second round from Arizona.

OF Cole Gillespie signed a minor league deal with Miami. [UPDATE: a needless bit of info for a former Giant. I was thinking of OF Tyler Colvin].
