Giants minor league free agent update

According to Baseball America, here is the minor league free agents signed and lost:

Giants add 4, remove 1

Ahead of the Rule 5 eligibility lists, the Giants added four players to the 40-man while removing one.

The Giants designated RHP Juan Gutierrez for assignment.

They purchased the contracts of:
RHP Derek Law
RHP Cody Hall
RHP Ray Black
RHP Joan Gregorio

Only Black was still protected by the team. The others could have been snapped up in the Rule 5 draft.

Giants post-season moves through November 3

After the World Series, five Giants declared free agency (and removed from the 40-man roster):
RHP Jake Peavy
RHP Ryan Vogelsong
RHP Sergio Romo
3B Pablo Sandoval
OF Michael Morse

The Giants made a qualifying offer only to Sandoval, which was turned down.

On 11/03, the Giants activated RHP Matt Cain, INF Marco Scutaro, INF Ehire Adrianza and C Hector Sanchez from the 60-day DL. The transaction page also listed C Guillermo Quiroz and RHP Brett Bochy being outrighted to Sacramento. There was no mention that they were designated for assignment at all.

Also, INF Tony Abreu, OF Tyler Colvin and INF Brandon Hicks declared minor league free agency.
