As expected, the Giants optioned RHP George Kontos to Fresno following Thursday's game at Chicago. The roster was expanded to 26 men because the teams played a doubleheader (1.5 header?).
The team also transferred 1B Brandon Belt from the 7-day concussion DL to the 15-day DL. The move is a technicality from when the concussion list DL was established in 2011, described by MLB.com as " If a player spends more than 14 days on the seven-day disabled list, the player will be retroactively transferred to the 15-day disabled list."
San Jose: RHP Jake Smith and RHP Ray Black assigned from Augusta to San Jose. INF Sam Mende activated from DL. Placed RHP Martin Agosta (retroactive to August 20) and INF Alberto Robles on DL.
Augusta: activated C Eric Sim from the DL; LHP Nick Jones and RHP Michael Connolly assigned to Augusta from AZL Giants; OF Cristian Paulino placed on DL retro to August 21.
Salem-Keizer: RHP Tyler Beede (1st round pick) promoted to SK from AZL Giants.
