Well, at least they waited until after he met the president to option him.
The Giants optioned 2B/OF Kensuke Tanaka to Fresno and placed 2B Tony Abreu on the DL with a sore knee. Tanaka traveled to Washington today to meet with President Obama. Don't think there is a direct flight between the capital and Fresno.
Also, the team recalled 1B Brett Pill and OF Roger Kieschnick. This will be Kieschnick's first taste of the big leagues.
For Fresno, Jake Dunning had not yet reported to the team. Eric Surkamp was scheduled to be activated after his option to pitch today, but the game was rained out at Colorado Springs. Both players may be ready to go for tomorrow. The roster has 23 men active, with three waiting to be activated after their option (Dunning, Surkamp and Tanaka).
San Jose still has 26 players listed on their active roster. Augusta is listed with 24 still.
Salem-Keizer transferred P Arturo Matos-Garcia, who was on the DL, to Arizona. SK also transferred P Jose Reyes Moronto to the 60-day DL.
