Wishful Thinking- Giants post-season roster options

The power of positive thinking. Here is the playoff-eligible players available for the Giants post-season. All were on the roster (or DL) as of August 31:

NOTES:
The list breaks down to 14 pitchers (including one on the DL and one not on the DL but done for the season); 3 catchers (including Posey); 8 infielders (including Sanchez); and 5 outfielders (including on eon the DL). That is a total of 30 players, but in reality 26 or 27 "healthy" bodies.

With Affeldt's injury, and assuming he will not be on the post-season roster, the Giants would be allowed to replace him with a man not on the above list (ie Surkamp or Runzler). Same applies to Cody Ross. Schierholtz and Jonathan Sanchez would also be allowed to be replaced (ML Rule 40 (a) (3) ). However, Posey and Freddy Sanchez would not be allowed to be replaced because they are on the 60-day DL (ML Rule 2(g)(2), yet they in theory could be activated themselves to play.

So, the Giants can chose 25 of the above, or select those not on the list to replace the injured (likely 2-3 extra spots).
