Spring Training catch up

The first week has gone by and no transactions yet for the Giants.

Some per-Spring Training transactions to catch up on:
-Jason Christian cleared waivers after being DFAd and was signed to a minor league contract.
-The Giants also signed two former-organizational players to minor league deals: P Travis Blackley and P Ramon Ortiz.

Will they carry 2 or 3 catchers?
Will Brandon Crawford make the roster as a starter? Will Belt begin the year in SF or Fresno?
Will Clay Hensley make the opening day roster? Is Zito set as the fifth starter or the bullpen?

Three more join Giants 40-man

The Giants made (perhaps) the last pre-spring training transactions. They officially added pitchers Guillermo Mota, Clay Hensley and Inf Ryan Theriot to the 40-man roster. Since the Giants had 38 spaces available, the team OF Justin Christian for assignment.

The three add-ons were previously signed to big league contracts, but just finalized them in the last few days. As for Christian, he was added to the Giants roster as a September call up, after playing for AA Richmond and AAA Fresno in 2011.

The team now has 10 days to either trade or release him. After that window, Christian can accept a minor league assignment.
