The Giants acquired RHP Jake Peavy from Boston (along with cash considerations) in exchange for RHP Heath Hembree and LHP Edwin Escobar.
The team also place C Hector Sanchez on the 7-day concussion DL and purchased the contract of C Andrew Susac from Fresno.
Peavy will be activated in time for Sunday to make the start (I expect RHP George Kontos to be optioned to make room). The Giants remain at a full 40-man roster after a flurry the last two days.
Fresno: The Grizzlies now have four slots to fill (one after Friday; three from Saturday) after the last two days and made these moves: LHP Ryan Bradley and RHP Jorge Bucardo are assigned from San Jose to Fresno; RHP Mitchell Boggs (MLB veteran just signed) assigned from AZL Giants to Fresno; and INF Ydwin Villegas assigned from San Jose to Fresno.
Note: Bradley was on the San Jose DL at the time.
San Jose: The Giants filled its slots by activating RHP Ian Gardeck from the DL and C Matt Pare assigned from AZL Giants to San Jose.
Augusta: 3B Sam Mende assigned from Salem-Keizer to Augusta
SK: OF Austin Slater (8th round pick) assigned to Salem-Keizer from AZL Giants.
AZL Giants: C Aramis Garcia (2nd round pick) and OF Dylan Davis (3rd round pick) assigned to AZL Giants.
