2014 Giants Opening Day Roster

I will run down the final transactions, and options left info for the newcomers, but here are the 2014 San Francisco Giants (I will also post the opening day rosters for the minor league affiliates as they become available.

The final Spring Training transactions:
Assigned to minors:
SS Alberto Robles
LHP Josh Osich

The Giants selected the contracts of RHP Juan Gutierrez and INF Brandon Hicks. The team already had 39 slots on the 40-man roster, so to clear up the final space, the team DFA'd OF Roger Kieschnick. He is now in limbo for 10 days to see if another team claims him (it could be earlier if all teams pass early; the claim order is based on 2013 standings). If not, Kieschnick will clear waivers and likely join Fresno.

Also, the Giants placed LHP Jeremy Affeldt on the DL (retroactive to March 23; eligible to return by the Giant's sixth game) and 2B Marco Scutaro (retro. to March 21; eligible to return by the Giant's sixth game).

As far as options, the Giants media guide includes option info for the first time. For Gutierrez, he has no options remaining (optioned 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Houston; 2008 by Arizona). He had the rare fourth option.

The media guide also lists that Hicks has used up all three of his options.
